FIT TESTING

IMA complies with OSHA Standard 29CFR 1910.134 (f)/App A for fit testing (OSHA Fit Test Regulation). Any individual who is required to wear a respirator must be fit tested annually. If the individual voluntarily chooses to wear a respirator, fit testing is optional.

Before fit testing is completed, it is the responsibility of the company to:

Provide a selection of respirators for the employee to choose from that may be comfortable for them. Please have the employee bring his/her respirator to the fit test appointment.

Ensure that the employee has no facial hair that would interfere with the respirator seal. We have found that compliance with this particular need has caused great delays in completing the fit test procedure. Employees will be rescheduled if they do not comply.

Provide respirator training including, but not limited to, instruction on donning, adjusting and user seal checking of the respirator.

Fit testing must be performed annually and whenever the style of mask changes and/or if there is a change in facial contour.
